About Brian Goral

About Composer Brian Goral | Film, Television & Media – I am a San Diego–based composer specializing in cinematic and emotional underscores that blend the warmth of acoustic instruments with the depth of modern sound design. My work appears in television, commercials, and independent films, connecting audiences through music that supports story and emotion without overshadowing it. With a background in both classical training and contemporary production techniques, I bring a versatile, polished, and human touch to every project.

My Journey in Music

Music has been a central part of my life since childhood, taking me from early piano lessons to professional scoring stages. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of California, San Diego, where I focused on composition and performance. I later attended Berklee College of Music’s Composition for Film program, sharpening my skills in orchestration, thematic development, and scoring to picture. These experiences gave me both the technical foundation and creative insight to succeed in the competitive world of production music.

Musical Style and Approach

My signature style blends orchestral underscore with subtle synth textures, rhythmic piano motifs, and evolving ambient layers. Whether I’m writing a delicate felt-piano cue or a bold orchestral swell, my focus is always on serving the narrative. I draw influence from composers like Thomas Newman, Alexandre Desplat, and Max Richter, combining detailed melodic writing with modern production techniques. Each track is built with pacing, dynamics, and emotional arcs in mind, ensuring it works equally well in standalone listening or as part of a visual story.

About Composer Brian Goral – Beyond the Studio

When I’m not composing, I’m often hunting through thrift stores, estate sales, and flea markets for vintage treasures. I love collecting and restoring mid-century furniture, classic electronics, and especially vintage synthesizers. There’s something about bringing an old piece back to life — whether it’s a retro lamp or an analog keyboard — that feels like composing: it’s about blending the past and present to create something that still resonates today. This curiosity and love for craftsmanship often finds its way into my music, influencing both the textures I choose and the stories I tell through sound.
